Update - Syria Deaf Association

 In June and July 2023, B.G.G.S students were busy raising funds and resources for the charity Deaf Children's Association in Syria. The charity, founded by Feras Al-Mobayed has had a challenging three years, trying to get fundraising and donations off the ground for these vulnerable children. 

The events at school were organised and managed by students from 9SIQ, H.R.B and the Year 12 Prefects. A total of £500.11 was raised through donations and ice-cream sales.

It was amazing to witness the generosity and outpouring of support from the B.G.G.S community. Staff, students & their families have all been so kind. We reached our target of 30 rucksacks, hearing aid batteries and endless amount of stationery. 

We hope to inspire other schools to follow in our footsteps and help raise awareness for deaf children in Syria.

UPDATE - February 2026

The delivery of the equipment was delayed due to the ongoing conflict and the closure of Syria’s airports. However, we are pleased to announce that the goods have finally been delivered. The children have received their supplies and are incredibly grateful for the support!
